Buddy is a five year old Cocker Spaniel mix that came to us from one of the Denver shelters. He was an owner surrender. The owner inherited Buddy from his father, but didn’t feel as if he could give him the attention that he deserves.

Buddy is a great guy. He’s mixed with some other breed in that he looks like a Cocker but is larger than the breed standard. He weights around 60 pounds but is a gentle giant. He loves attention and loves to play with his tennis ball. He’s not so good at bringing it back, but he can amuse himself by batting it around! He gets along with other dogs, but we don’t know about cats. He seems fine around children, but may just be too big for toddlers. He has had some ear problems, but we are working to get that under control. He also tends to have dry eyes, so he gets a couple of eye drops twice a day. He could probably stand to lose a couple of pounds, but regular exercise should help that.

Buddy is neutered, up-to-date on his vaccinations and is microchipped, so all he needs if someone to love him for the rest of his life. If you’re that person, please complete an online adoption application.

Sammy is very sweet and social. Quiet temperament and loves to snuggle. Always has a serious little face, and a real snuggle buddy in the recliner to watch TV. He was tied up to a tree in front of a family home having a garage sale with a sign that said “free”. He was all matted up and full of fleas. Very sad. He is on his way to learning happiness in his foster home right now, and loves to go for walks.

Rescuing a dog from a shelter is a wonderful way to give a dog a second chance at life, and find yourself a new best friend. But, how do you help start this new relationship off on the right paw? This FREE Guide walks you through the first seven days of adopting a rescue dog.

Veterinarian Dr. Susan Wright and Editor Misty Weaver take you through the first seven days, from selecting a dog that will be a good fit with your family (Chapter Four) through to establishing routines (Chapter Seven), and socialization (Chapter Eleven). Each chapter ends with a real story from a family that adopted a rescue dog, sharing with you the joys and the challenges that accompany any adoption.

As you and your dog work together to find a new rhythm together, this guide provides you with the tips and tricks that will make your adoption a little easier and smoother for both master and dog. With some work, a bit of good advice, and a lot of love we know you will change two lives for the better.

Minnie is an adorable spayed brown and white cocker spaniel and is two years old. She loves to play and chew on rawhides. She is a bit shy with other doggies but is learning to come and go with the pack. She is terrified of stairs when she is the last to go down or up. She is cuddly, loveable and willing to learn quickly. She will be great with a single woman who will give her lots of attention. She loves to go for rides in the car with her foster mom. Sometimes she will piddle in excitement when mom gets home, but knows to poop outside. She should outgrow this behavior as she becomes more confident.

Minnie is up to date on her vaccinations and is micro-chipped. If you are interested in meeting her, please complete an online adoption application.
