Below is a list of planned adoption events for Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue for February, 2012. Stop by and visit!

There is never a shortage of work to do or Cocker Spaniels to rescue, so there are many opportunities for volunteers and foster families. If you would like to contribute in any way, we are looking for committed volunteers. Just ask one of the representatives at any of the adoption events for more information! If you would like to apply to be a volunteer or a foster, you can find the application on the volunteer tab of the website.

RMCR can only save dogs when we have available foster homes. We cover all expenses for fosters; you only have to provide the home, love and socialization! If you are interested or want more information, stop by one of our events and talk to the volunteers. Most are also fosters and they can tell you how rewarding it can be!

To save space, we have not included Petco store addresses. For store addresses, maps and more information, visit the Petco Store Locator.

Saturday, Feb 4: Petco Highlands Ranch (noon-4p)
Saturday, Feb 11: Petco Park Meadows (noon-4p)
Saturday, Feb 18: Petco Belmar (in the old Villa Italia area) (noon-4p)
Saturday, Feb 25: Petco Golden (noon-4p)

Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue was invited to bring some of our rescued Cocker Spaniels to Cherry Hills Christian School on Wednesday, April 27th. This event was a Carnival Day celebration that focused on 3-5 year old children that had vision impairments. Transportation Coordinator Jim Majeres and Volunteer Coordinator Andrea Eucalano took several dogs to the event, including Chance. In the photo above, one of the children gets to see what Chance “looks” like. They were especially interested in meeting Chance because he, too, has a vision impairment. Chance has cataracts. The kids enjoyed visiting with the dogs and Jim and Andrea enjoyed being there with the kids. Many thanks to Cherry Hills Christian School for inviting us to enjoy their carnival.

Chance is available for adoption as of this posting. He is not totally blind, but rather suffers from a clouded vision. He’s around 9 years old and is a total joy! Although he sounds ancient, he still has many good years left! Let us know if you are interested in meeting him.

Rescuing a dog from a shelter is a wonderful way to give a dog a second chance at life, and find yourself a new best friend. But, how do you help start this new relationship off on the right paw? This FREE Guide walks you through the first seven days of adopting a rescue dog.

Veterinarian Dr. Susan Wright and Editor Misty Weaver take you through the first seven days, from selecting a dog that will be a good fit with your family (Chapter Four) through to establishing routines (Chapter Seven), and socialization (Chapter Eleven). Each chapter ends with a real story from a family that adopted a rescue dog, sharing with you the joys and the challenges that accompany any adoption.

As you and your dog work together to find a new rhythm together, this guide provides you with the tips and tricks that will make your adoption a little easier and smoother for both master and dog. With some work, a bit of good advice, and a lot of love we know you will change two lives for the better.
